Shillong, Feb 20: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma expressed deep grief over the sudden demise of Shillong Lok Sabha MP Dr. Ricky Andrew J. Syngkon, who passed away at the age of 54 following a heart attack on Thursday evening.
In a post on X, Sangma described Syngkon as a “dedicated and compassionate leader” with “deep enthusiasm for public service and unwavering commitment to his people.” He added, “He was rooted in faith and served with humility, vision, and a sincere desire to uplift society,” and extended condolences to Syngkon’s family, friends, and well-wishers, praying for the late MP’s eternal peace.
Meghalaya Minister Wailadmiki Shylla also mourned the loss, calling it immense for both Syngkon’s family and the people he served. “Dr. Syngkon was a sincere and hardworking leader who always placed the welfare of the people at the forefront,” Shylla posted on X, offering condolences and prayers.
The Meghalaya Health Department remembered Syngkon as a “gem” known for his humility, warm smile, kind heart, and dedication to the public. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also condoled the demise, praying for the departed soul’s eternal peace and extending sympathies to the bereaved family.
Syngkon, one of Meghalaya’s two Lok Sabha MPs and a leader of the Voice of the People Party (VPP), leaves behind a legacy of committed public service.
