Meghalaya Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma has appealed to all 60 MLAs and two MPs to actively participate in the state’s ongoing drive to improve school infrastructure. He said government efforts alone are not sufficient to meet the growing needs of educational facilities.
Sangma cited his own example of renovating 45 schools in Rongara-Siju constituency of South Garo Hills district by using Rs 2 lakh per school from MLA scheme funds.
He urged fellow lawmakers and district council members to join the initiative, adding, “If each MLA takes responsibility for upgrading 50 schools every year, significant progress can be made in enhancing school infrastructure.”
