Five individuals were arrested by the special cell/SOT along with Mawsynram police on Sunday after they were found in possession of a Russian-made pistol during a naka checking operation in Mawsynram, East Khasi Hills District.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Aidonsing Nongsiej (40), Orally Khardewsaw (33), Wanrilang Nongkynrih (33), Mossingstar Nongbri (28), and Pynshailang Puwein (30). Authorities seized a Russian-made pistol, four live 22-caliber rounds of ammunition, six mobile phones, and various identification documents, including a voter ID, PAN card, an ID card of the National Hynniewtrep People, and a Ministry of Defence ID from the suspects.

In addition, two tourist vehicles, bearing registration numbers ML 05 1319 and ML 05 AA 7184, were also confiscated during the operation.
