The Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister & Minister-in-charge of PWD (Roads) – Prestone Tynsong today stated that the department will assess the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for widening the Mawphlang-Mawsynram road.

Responding to a follow-up query by the Mawphlang legislator – Eugeneson Lyngdoh; Tynsong noted that “We have decided to widen and convert it into an intermediate road. The sanction will be accorded, once preparation of the DPR is completed.”

The Deputy CM assured to look-into the demand of the Mawsynram legislator – Himalaya Shangpliang for considering the widening of the road from Weiloi to Dangar or Balat.

“The government must place emphasis on the Mawphlang–Balat route, because its the oldest road in existence which dates back to Assam,” – added Shangpliang.
