Shillong, Jun 11: Actress and Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has reacted strongly to the alleged murder of Raja Raghuvanshi during a honeymoon trip in Meghalaya, reportedly planned by his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi.
Taking to Instagram, Kangana shared a news report and wrote, “Can someone explain this!! Woman can’t say no to marriage because she is scared of her own parents but she can plan a cold blooded murder with supari killers… This has been on my mind since morning but not able to wrap my head around it!! Uufffff getting a headache now!!” She described the incident as “cruel, heinous and absurd.”
According to Meghalaya Police, Sonam hired three men Akash Rajput (19), Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), and Raj Singh Kushwaha (21) to carry out the murder. The couple, who married on May 11 in Indore, had travelled to Sohra for their honeymoon. They were reported missing on May 23 after checking out of a homestay in Nongriat village. Raja’s body was recovered on June 2, nearly 20 km away.
Sonam later surrendered at Nandganj police station in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, following the arrest of the three accused. However, her father, Devi Singh Raghuvanshi, has claimed that his daughter was abducted and falsely implicated. He has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has also written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking a central probe into the matter.
