Meghalaya: Indefinite Night Curfew Imposed In West Garo Hills Following Violence Threats

Shillong, Mar 20: Authorities in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district have imposed an indefinite night curfew across the district starting Thursday, citing recent incidents of violence and threats to public safety.

District Magistrate Vibhor Aggarwal issued the order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, following a review of the law and order situation and inputs from law enforcement agencies.

The curfew will be in effect daily from 6 pm to 6 am until further notice. During these hours, residents are prohibited from venturing outside their homes.
