The Meghalaya Cabinet on Thursday approved the Meghalaya Film Tourism Policy 2025, introduced new rules to implement recently enacted criminal laws, and decided to discontinue interviews for Group D recruitment posts.

The Film Tourism Policy aims to position Meghalaya as a key filmmaking destination in the Northeast. The policy, finalized after consulting over 200 stakeholders, offers subsidies for national, international, and local language films, as well as for TV, OTT, documentary, and short film productions. A Film Facilitation Cell has been formed to coordinate promotional activities across departments.

To implement the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, the Cabinet approved three new rules: Meghalaya eSakshya Management Rules 2025 for secure electronic evidence handling; Meghalaya Electronic Processes Rules 2025 for issuing e-Summons; and Meghalaya Guidelines for Community Services 2025 allowing courts to assign community service to petty offenders.

The Cabinet also approved ending interviews for Group D posts to enhance transparency, aligning with central government guidelines.

These decisions reflect Meghalaya’s commitment to strengthening legal frameworks, improving governance, and boosting cultural tourism.
