Shillong, Jun 4: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday launched the Meghalaya Film Tourism Policy and unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at supporting and promoting the state’s filmmaking talent during the ‘Hello Meghalaya’ program held in Shillong.
During the event, the Chief Minister honoured acclaimed filmmakers Pradip Kurbah and Dominic Sangma for their contributions to cinema. He also announced the Hello Meghalaya Grants, which will provide financial assistance ranging from ₹5 lakh to ₹35 lakh to support both established and emerging storytellers in the state.
The government also launched Hello Meghalaya, India’s first state-dedicated OTT platform designed to showcase films and content produced in Meghalaya. The platform aims to create new opportunities for local filmmakers and promote the state’s cultural narratives to national and international audiences.
As part of the outreach, Sangma flagged off the Road Show Initiative, a mobile LED campaign that will screen films, conduct promotional activities, and raise awareness on key issues across various locations in the state.
The Chief Minister invited feedback from the public and film community on the newly launched Film Tourism Policy and reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering a thriving creative ecosystem in Meghalaya.
