The office of the Director of Health Services (MI), Laitumkhrah, observed Indian Organ Donation Day on Monday, emphasizing the significance of organ donation in saving lives. The event was attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, who delivered an address encouraging public participation in the cause.
In her remarks, the minister stated that organ donation is not about loss, but about giving life and hope to others. She emphasized the need to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation and urged communities to embrace it as an act of compassion. “Rather than letting our organs go to waste, we can save lives and leave behind a legacy of compassion,” she said.
The programme also featured a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of a drawing competition based on the theme “Organ Donation: Life Revitalizing Campaign.” The initiative aimed to engage youth in spreading awareness through creative expression.
Minister Lyngdoh appealed to both healthcare professionals and citizens to support organ donation as a humanitarian gesture, calling it one of the greatest contributions one can make to society.
