Meghalaya: Police Recover 55 Anti-Aircraft Ammunition In South West Garo Hills

Shillong, Jan 7: Acting on credible information, a joint police team from Salmanpara and Ampati Police Stations in South West Garo Hills District conducted a search operation on January 6.

The operation, carried out in a bamboo grove near Santogre village under Salmanpara Police Station’s jurisdiction, led to the recovery of 55 suspected live anti-aircraft ammunition buried at the site.

The ammunition was seized following legal procedures in the presence of independent witnesses. Investigations are ongoing to trace its origin and identify those responsible for the illegal activity.

The police have appealed to the public to provide information about individuals involved in unlawful acts. Informants’ identities will be kept confidential, and rewards will be offered for credible information.
