Meghalaya: Strawberry Festival Held In South West Khasi Hills

Mawkyrwat, Mar 19: The Strawberry Festival and Horticultural Exhibition was held in Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills district, with participation from around 200 farmers. The event was organised by the Office of the District Horticulture Officer under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) 2024–2025.

The programme took place at Balang Presbyterian Mawkyrwat Ground and was attended by farmers, horticulture experts, and members of the public.

Renikton L. Tongkhar, MLA of Mawkyrwat constituency, attended the event as the chief guest. Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills district, B. Mawlong, IAS, was present as the guest of honour.

Director of Agriculture, S. Rani, and Director of Horticulture, B. Mylliemngap, were present as special guests, along with other invitees.

The event focused on promoting strawberry cultivation and displaying horticultural produce. It also served as a platform for sharing information on horticulture practices and government schemes under MIDH.

Prizes were distributed to 92 winners among the participants at the end of the programme.
