Meghalaya has been officially selected to host the 39th edition of the National Games in 2027, as announced by the state’s Sports Minister, Shakliar Warjri, on Sunday.
The confirmation came after a meeting in November between Warjri and Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in Delhi, where the approval was granted. “We have received formal approval for Meghalaya to host the National Games,” said Warjri.
The Sports Minister expressed confidence that the event would inspire and provide a significant opportunity for the state’s young athletes. “The government is fully committed to supporting our sports-loving youth, and we hope they will make the most of this platform,” he added.
In addition, Warjri extended his congratulations to Meghalaya’s athletes for their excellent performances at the ongoing National Championships in Uttarakhand, where they have earned several medals, bringing pride to the state.
