Meghalaya Women’s Archery Team Wins Gold At 1st Khelo India Tribal Games 2026

The Meghalaya women’s compound archery team secured the gold medal at the inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games 2026, held from March 25 to April 3 in Chhattisgarh. The team comprised Stacy M Sangma, Kate Diamond Lyngdoh, and Nakubansharia Khonghat.

Nineteen-year-old Stacy M Sangma, hailing from Baghmara in South Garo Hills District, has steadily emerged as a prominent talent in archery. Born to Richard Nixon R Marak and Selitha M Sangma on August 30, 2007, at Wagesik Balsri A’ding, Baghmara, she began her archery training at the Khelo India Centre, Government Higher Secondary School, Baghmara in 2023.

Since then, Stacy has participated in multiple state and national-level archery competitions, winning several medals. She has been training under the Khelo India State Centre of Excellence, Shillong, since August 29, 2024.

Stacy’s competitive journey includes a gold medal at the Meghalaya Games 2024 in Tura, a second-place finish at the Meghalaya Games 2025 in Jowai, and a third-place finish at the All India SAI Tournament in Kolkata. Her recent gold at the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 adds another notable achievement to her growing career.

The victory of the Meghalaya women’s team marks a proud moment for the state, highlighting its rising talent in archery at national-level competitions.
