Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin, distilled in the rain-rich hills of Meghalaya, has been awarded the Double Gold Medal at the 2025 Spirits International Prestige (SIP) Awards held in California, USA.

Produced by Raincheck Earth Co., the gin was among less than 2% of over 1,200 global entries to receive the top honour in this consumer-judged competition. The SIP Awards involve over 300 participants who evaluate spirits through double-blind tastings.

Touted as India’s first premium craft gin made using harvested rainwater from Cherrapunji, the spirit is infused with locally sourced ingredients such as Khasi mandarin, Himalayan juniper, and smoked cardamom. This combination gives it a distinct citrus-forward and smoky-earthy flavour.

Founder of Raincheck Earth Co., Mayukh Hazarika, said, “This award is especially meaningful because it comes directly from the people who enjoy spirits in real life.”

The gin, developed in collaboration with a Dutch master distiller, highlights the natural abundance of Meghalaya and marks a significant achievement for India in the global craft spirits industry.
