Shillong, Jan 11: Five women from Meghalaya have been chosen to represent the state at the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, New Delhi. They are part of a distinguished group of 35 North Eastern representatives, celebrating the region’s contributions to the vision of a “Swarnim Bharat.”
The selected women from Meghalaya are Grethilla R. Marak from South Garo Hills, Bibiana Dkhar and Julida Dkhar from East Jaintia Hills, Darihun Pyngrope from Ri Bhoi District, and Wenylia Merceeds D. Sangma from East Garo Hills. They were selected under the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
These women include entrepreneurs, National Award winners, and beneficiaries of government schemes. In addition to attending the Republic Day Parade, they will visit prominent landmarks such as the National War Memorial and PM Sangrahalay, and engage in discussions with key government ministers to better understand India’s heritage and governance policies.
