Agartala, June 24, 2025: Tripura’s Minister for Scheduled Caste Welfare, Fisheries, and Animal Resources Development, Sudhanshu Das, began a two-day visit to North District on Monday to assess the implementation of central and state-sponsored schemes under his departments.

Kicking off the visit, Das chaired a high-level review meeting at the conference hall of the Dharmanagar District Magistrate’s Office on Tuesday. The focus of the meeting was to evaluate the progress and impact of various schemes rolled out in the district in the current and previous financial years.

“Effective and timely implementation of welfare schemes is our top priority. We are reviewing how efficiently the allocated budget for 2025-26 is being utilized and whether the benefits are reaching the rural population,” said Minister Das during the meeting.

District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, IAS along with senior officials from the Scheduled Caste Welfare, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development departments attended the session. Discussions covered both physical and financial progress of ongoing projects, and strategies to expedite implementation in remote and underserved areas.

Later in the day, a separate review meeting was held with elected representatives, including local MLAs, district and block presidents, vice-presidents, and chairpersons. The aim was to gather feedback and suggestions to enhance delivery mechanisms and ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive support without delay.

The minister emphasized the importance of coordination between officials and public representatives in ensuring comprehensive rural development, especially for the Scheduled Caste communities and those dependent on fisheries and livestock for their livelihoods.

Minister Das is scheduled to visit field sites and hold additional consultations with beneficiaries and local authorities on Tuesday.
