A Mizo language learning centre will soon be set up at Kamalanagar, the headquarters of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) in Lawngtlai district, southern Mizoram, officials announced on Tuesday.
The decision followed a meeting of District School Education Board officials, headmasters, and representatives from the Mizoram Chakma Students’ Union (MCSU). Rasik Mohan Chakma, Mizo National Front legislator representing the Tuichawng constituency and a CADC member, also attended.
Chakma emphasized the importance of Mizo language skills for candidates seeking government jobs in the state. He pledged funds from his MLA quota to establish the centre in Kamalanagar, also called Chawngte, to help aspirants prepare for the Mizoram Public Service Commission’s language test.
The project will be a joint effort involving the MLA, CADC authorities, and MCSU. The MCSU (Central) will manage the centre’s operations, with logistical support from the CADC education department.
