Mizoram: Assam Rifles Seizes Heroin Worth Rs 9.5 Lakh, Three Arrested In Aizawl

Aizawl, Jan 13: In a significant operation, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Mizoram Special Narcotics CID, seized heroin valued at Rs 9.51 lakh and arrested three individuals in Aizawl on January 10. The arrested suspects, Ngurthanzami (29) from New Champhai, Bikash Gharti (24) from Zemabawk S.A Veng, and Lalramthara (37) from Tuikual South, were found in possession of 13.590 grams of Heroin No 4, concealed in transparent plastic bags.

The operation, conducted in the Zemabawk S.A Veng area based on specific intelligence, led to the successful apprehension of the three individuals. They have been handed over to the Special Narcotics CID (Crime) for further investigation and legal proceedings.

This drug seizure follows another successful operation on the same day, in which Assam Rifles, along with the Mizoram Police and Tripura Forest Service, destroyed over 16,500 cannabis plants worth around Rs 70 lakh across 16.2 hectares in the Boxanagar Forest Range of Mizoram.
