Aizawl, Nov 21: In a major operation against drug trafficking, Assam Rifles, along with Mizoram Police, seized heroin and Methamphetamine tablets worth over ₹86 crore in Champhai district. Two Myanmar nationals were arrested in connection with the drug haul, an official statement confirmed on Thursday.
The operation was initiated on Wednesday after receiving intelligence about the movement of a suspicious consignment across the Tiau river, which marks the India-Myanmar border. While the traffickers escaped, the joint forces successfully recovered the drugs.
This seizure highlights the continued efforts of Indian authorities to combat the rising menace of cross-border narcotics smuggling, particularly in the northeastern states bordering Myanmar.
