The 79th Independence Day of India was celebrated with grandeur on Friday at the Aizawl Lammual.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma unfurled the National Flag and took the salute from the parade contingents.
In his address, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the freedom fighters, the founding leaders of the nation, and the soldiers who laid down their lives for the country. He called upon the people to safeguard the hard-earned freedom and to work together with unity and dedication for the progress of the nation.
Lalduhoma outlined several reforms undertaken by his government, including the introduction of improved governance systems, granting General Consent to the CBI, expanding services under the Right to Public Services Act, reducing delays in service delivery, and strengthening the “Mipui Aw” grievance redressal system.
He also highlighted the introduction of an online portal for Land Revenue & Settlement services, online OPD registration at Aizawl Civil Hospital, online registration of births and deaths, statewide access to power bill payment through GPay, and the launch of the “Leak Apps” by the PHE Department to reduce leakages in water distribution. Other measures include better implementation of the PDS system, introduction of e-office at the Secretariat, adoption of an Integrity Pact to curb corruption, establishment of a Project Monitoring Committee, strengthening of the Lokayukta, regular review meetings of ministers and their departments, and availability of work monitoring systems online.
On project implementation, the Chief Minister stated that all project proposals must now be routed through the Planning Department to prevent duplication and ensure proper monitoring. Projects without proper SOPs will no longer be approved. To further strengthen development through CSR funding, a CSR Cell has been created in the CM’s Office. In addition, a Mizo Diaspora Cell and a dedicated Diaspora Hub portal have been launched to connect with the Mizo community worldwide.
