Mizoram CM Chairs High Level Task Force Meeting On North East Economic Corridor

Aizawl, Jun 26: Chief Minister Lalduhoma chaired an online meeting of the High Level Task Force on the North East Economic Corridor, established by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) to promote integrated economic development across the region.

As Convener of the Task Force, Lalduhoma welcomed participants and emphasized the urgent need for infrastructure development in the North East. He highlighted that Mizoram’s road density remains significantly below the national average and called for focused efforts in critical sectors to bridge the gap.

The Chief Minister noted that improved infrastructure would boost connectivity, enhance cross-border trade with neighbouring Asian countries, and create employment opportunities. He also thanked Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for his active role in supporting regional development.

During the meeting, Lalmalsawma Pachuau, Secretary of the Planning & Programme Implementation Department, Government of Mizoram, presented a summary of key insights from previous consultations and state inputs. The presentation was followed by detailed discussions on recommendations and strategies.

The meeting saw the participation of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia; Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma; Assam Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary; Manipur Chief Secretary PK Singh; Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways V. Umashankar; and senior officials from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), among others.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to coordinated development efforts and agreed to hold follow-up consultations to ensure the successful implementation of short-term, medium-term, and long-term strategies for the corridor.
