Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Thursday inaugurated a new Trauma Care Facility at Aizawl Civil Hospital, a significant development in the state’s emergency healthcare services. The facility aims to provide timely trauma response and critical care to patients in need.
The Chief Minister also announced plans to expand the hospital further by constructing two new blocks, Block A and Block B, with an estimated budget of ₹88.33 crore under the PMJVK scheme. Additional services such as Cardiac Care, Kidney Dialysis, and IVF will be introduced to meet rising healthcare demands.
Lalduhoma praised the expertise of doctors in Mizoram and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure, particularly for economically disadvantaged groups. He assured that the Trauma Care Facility will be upgraded as needed based on inputs from medical professionals.
Health Minister Lalrinpuii expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his support and highlighted the department’s focus on advancing health services in the state.
The inauguration ceremony was chaired by H. Lalengmawia, Commissioner and Secretary of Health & Family Welfare, with a technical presentation by Dr. SR Ngurchamliana, Director of Health & Medical Education.
The Trauma Care Facility’s construction experienced delays due to a land dispute and the COVID-19 pandemic. It was completed with ₹121.50 lakh from the central government and ₹450 lakh from the state government. The facility includes a reception and triage area, treatment and observation rooms, imaging services such as X-ray and CT scan, a minor operation theatre/resuscitation room, and staff rooms. It is among seven Trauma Care Facilities established across Mizoram.
