Aizawl, Nov 3: The Mizoram Agricultural Marketing Board held a meeting today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Lalduhoma at the CM’s Conference Hall, Aizawl. The meeting reviewed the performance and activities of the Board for the current year.

During the meeting, it was reported that a total of 3,38,354 quintals of ginger have been procured this year. Support Price payments amounting to ₹118.89 crore have already been made to the farmers, while an additional ₹20 crore is yet to be released. The Government also noted that seven LPK truckloads of ginger remain unsold, mainly due to the need for proper grading and quality classification.

An Investigation Team constituted to examine irregularities in the procurement and distribution of ginger in Champhai District has submitted its report. The report revealed certain discrepancies and payments that have not yet been properly disbursed, for which the Government is taking necessary steps to ensure accountability. A plan of action has been formulated to prevent such issues in the future.

It is reported that around ₹9 crore from the Central Government under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for ginger procurement is expected this year.

In addition to preparations for the upcoming harvest season, the meeting deliberated on Mizoram’s participation in the NITI Aayog’s consultation on ginger-related matters, as well as the organization of the Buyer-Seller Meet 2025 and strategies to strengthen the Mizoram Agricultural Marketing Board (MAMB).

The meeting was attended by PC Vanlalruata, Minister for Agriculture; C. Lalsawivunga, Minister for Horticulture; Lalthansanga, Minister for Land Resources, Soil & Water Conservation; Dr. KC Lalmalsawmzauva, Adviser to the Chief Minister (Handholding); and other Board members.
