Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Vungzagin Valte, BJP Kuki-Zo MLA from Thanlon Constituency, Manipur, who died on February 21. Valte had been receiving treatment at Medanta Medicity Hospital in Gurugram following injuries sustained during an attack in Imphal in May 2023 amid Meitei-Kuki ethnic clashes.

Valte, a former Minister and Adviser to the Chief Minister of Manipur, was known for his work for the Zo community and underprivileged groups. He played a key role in recognizing Zomi Nam Ni (Zomi National Day) as a restricted holiday in Manipur and in establishing the Mualnuam ADC in Churachandpur District.

The Mizoram CM described Valte as a leader committed to public service, peace, and community unity, and extended condolences to his family, constituents, and the Zo tribes in Manipur.
