Aizawl, Dec 15: Chief Minister Lalduhoma today met the Chief Executive Officer of Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL), Subrata Das, along with his team, at his office to discuss the progress of the Tripura–Mizoram Gas Pipeline project. The Chief Minister reviewed the work undertaken so far and also listened to the challenges being faced in the implementation of the project.
IGGL officials informed that the gas pipeline originates from the Panisagar Receiving Terminal in Tripura and passes through Kanhmun, Zawlnuam, Kawrthah, Tuidam and Darlak before reaching near Mamit. From there, it will proceed towards Lengte and terminate at the proposed Sihhmui Receiving Terminal. From the Sihhmui Receiving Terminal, household gas connections within Aizawl city will be undertaken by Tripura Natural Gas Corporation Limited.
The pipeline from Panisagar to Sihhmui will have a total length of 119.5 kilometres, with a pipe diameter of one foot. The project is targeted for completion by December 2027.
This project is being implemented under the North East Natural Gas Pipeline Grid. The Panisagar–Sihhmui stretch is part of Phase II of the project. Phase II as a whole covers the Guwahati–Agartala–Aizawl pipeline, with a total length of 723 kilometres.
