Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Friday attended the valedictory function of a three-day Capacity Building Workshop for NGOs and Implementing Agencies, jointly organised by the Mizoram CSR Cell and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at the I&PR Conference Hall, Aizawl.

In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted that despite the mandatory Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) obligations for companies operating across India, Mizoram continues to receive one of the lowest shares of CSR funds. He cited the construction of the Serchhip Hospital, which was supported by over ₹21 crore through CSR, as an example of how such funds can aid development in the state.

He noted that the main reason for the low inflow of CSR funds is the limited number of registered Implementing Agencies in Mizoram. To address this, the Chief Minister’s Office has set up a dedicated CSR Cell to assist organisations in registering and accessing CSR funding. Several initiatives, including sensitisation programmes, a roadshow in Bengaluru in collaboration with UNDP, and a talk show, have been undertaken to raise awareness. The ongoing training programme with CII is also part of these efforts.

Lalduhoma encouraged NGOs, societies, and hospitals to register as Implementing Agencies and assured that the CSR Cell would continue to provide guidance and support. “Your success will uplift society, create employment opportunities for youth, and contribute to the overall progress of our state,” he said.

TBC Lalvenchhunga, Adviser to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the CSR Cell, also addressed the gathering and announced the development of a new CSR Matchmaking Platform to connect donor companies with Implementing Agencies.

The valedictory function was chaired by Lalmalsawma Pachuau, Secretary of the Planning & Programme Implementation Department. Participants expressed appreciation for the training, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks from Lalrintluanga Jahau, Chairman of the CII Mizoram State Council.
