Mizoram: Election officials Hold Review Meeting For LADC Polls In Lawngtlai

Lawngtlai, Nov 18: As part of the preparations for the upcoming 12th Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) General Election 2025, a coordination meeting was held today at the DC Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Donny Lalruatsanga, District Election Officer (DEO). The meeting was attended by Election Observers Dr. Andrew H. Vanlaldika and Abraham Beiraizi Khithie, along with Election Officials and Election Agents.

Election Observer Dr. Andrew H. Vanlaldika expressed gratitude to all participants. He appreciated the efforts made so far for the smooth conduct of the election and urged Election Officials to continue discharging their duties with commitment. Highlighting the importance of transparency, he stressed the need for clearly disseminating all information mandated by the State Election Commission (SEC). He expressed confidence that the SEC team would carry out their responsibilities effectively. He also reminded Election Agents to be fully aware of their roles and to ensure adherence to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Dr. Andrew further emphasised that ensuring a free and fair election process is of utmost importance and appealed for proactive measures to address any potential grievances. He added that providing equal opportunity and a level playing field to all candidates is essential for a credible electoral process.

DEO Donny Lalruatsanga reiterated the ongoing efforts to ensure a smooth and fair election. He highlighted that the District Level Standing Committee and the Mizoram Peoples’ Forum (MPF) have been properly constituted, and that Election Officials are consistently carrying out their duties to ensure a successful election.

Sr. Superintendent of Police P.C. Lalchunglura presented the security plan for the election. He informed that Police deployment for all 111 Polling Stations, including one Auxiliary Polling Station, has been finalized. Measures for MCC enforcement, functioning of SSTs, FSTs, Sector Police Officers, EVM security, and candidate security have also been arranged. He added that personnel from the 3rd IR Battalion (Thingkah) and 2nd MAP, Luangmual (Lunglei) will be deployed. An Election Cell has also been set up at the SP Office.

Election Officer Collin Hlychho made a detailed PowerPoint presentation on various preparatory activities. He informed that the LADC election will involve 3 -Returning Officers, 3- Assistant Returning Officers, 17 -Sector Officers, 18 -Nodal Officers, and 8 – different teams. A total of 111- Polling Stations and 1- Auxiliary Polling Station have been designated, including 3, exclusively for women.

Today’s meeting was attended by the Returning Officers, Sr. Superintendent of Police, Assistant Returning Officers, Nodal Officers, and Election Agents from Lawngtlai Town. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from DEO Donny Lalruatsanga.
