Mizoram End Swami Vivekananda Men’s U20 NFC Group D With Perfect Record

Mizoram secured a perfect record in Group D of the Swami Vivekananda Men’s U20 National Football Championship after defeating Jharkhand 3-1 at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Ground on Tuesday.

The team from the North-East finished the group stage unbeaten with 12 points from four matches. PC Pazawna gave Mizoram an early lead in the 4th minute, followed by John Lalrinawma’s header in the 11th minute. Jharkhand’s Birbal Mohli scored in the 38th minute, but Ngurthanmawia restored Mizoram’s two-goal advantage in the 87th minute.

In the other Group D match, Maharashtra defeated Tripura 2-0. Maharashtra finished second in the group with nine points, while Tripura ended with six.

Punjab topped Group C after an 8-1 victory over Ladakh and will face Mizoram in the quarter-finals on Friday.
