Mizoram Governor Extends Greetings On Statehood Day, Highlights Progress And Unity

Mizoram Governor, Gen (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd.), extended his warm greetings to the people of Mizoram on the occasion of the 2025 Mizoram Statehood Day, marking the 38th anniversary of the state’s formation on February 20, 1987.

In his message, the Governor emphasized the historical importance of the day, which symbolizes the resilience and unity of the Mizo people. He also reflected on the success of the Mizoram Peace Accord, signed on June 30, 1986, between the Government of India and the Mizo National Front, which paved the way for Mizoram’s peaceful integration as India’s 23rd state.

Gen. Singh praised the state’s remarkable progress since its statehood, noting advancements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and sustainable development, while celebrating Mizoram’s vibrant culture and traditions that continue to inspire the nation.

The Governor also highlighted the central government’s ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, which promotes national integration and mutual understanding between different regions. He urged the people of Mizoram to engage with the diverse cultures across India while preserving their own unique heritage.

Concluding his message, Gen. Singh called on everyone to unite in building a prosperous future for Mizoram and India, and contribute to the vision of a “Vikshit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047.
