Aizawl, Nov 14: Mizoram’s Health & Family Welfare Minister, Lalrinpuii, inaugurated the second edition of the Leitlangpui Music Festival (LMF) 2025 at Kawmzawl, Pukpui, Lunglei on Thursday. The three-day festival, held from 13 to 15 November, celebrates Mizo art, culture, and music, while promoting tourism and local entrepreneurship.

Speaking at the event, Minister Lalrinpuii highlighted the festival’s potential to boost tourism and create economic opportunities for Lunglei and the State. She also shared updates on State initiatives, including the upcoming Mizoram Engineering College in Lunglei, rehabilitation programmes for substance dependents, and the Mizoram Universal Health Care Scheme (MUHCS), which has so far benefited over 46,000 patients across Mizoram.

Deputy Commissioner Navneet Mann, Chairperson of the LMF Working Committee, described LMF as a platform for celebrating Mizo identity, creativity, and unity, while supporting cultural exchange and economic growth.

The inaugural evening featured performances by MCAA Sub-Headquarters Lunglei (Khuallam), Lunglei Sub-Headquarters YMA Cultural Troupe (Cheraw), Lunglei Headquarters MUP (Bawhhla), and several popular Mizo artistes. Speeches were delivered by ZOHANDCO Chairman JK Dawngzuala and Lunglei Sub-Headquarters YMA President K. Lalfakzuala, and Tourism Director R. Lalrodingi proposed the vote of thanks.

The festival also hosts over 100 stalls showcasing traditional crafts, local cuisines, and tourism activities. Organised by the Tourism Department with support from the Tourism Ministry, Government of Mizoram, and private sponsors, LMF 2025 features the Leitlangpui Band Contest, Hathkargha Mela State Handloom Expo of ZOHANDCO, and various musical and cultural performances. The event is expected to attract large crowds and position Lunglei as a growing hub for cultural and music tourism in Mizoram.
