Aizawl, April 23: The Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) announced the results of the Class 10 High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations on Thursday, reporting an overall pass percentage of 80.31. This marks an improvement from last year’s 76.68 per cent.
A total of 18,257 students appeared for the examinations conducted in February and March. Among them, 8,448 boys recorded a pass rate of 81.16 per cent, while 9,809 girls achieved a pass rate of 79.59 per cent.
In a significant policy change, MBSE discontinued the practice of publishing rankings, distinctions, or divisions in the results, a move aimed at reducing unhealthy competition and promoting competency-based education.
State-aided schools emerged as the strongest performers with a 96.92 per cent success rate, followed by private schools at 89.38 per cent. State-run schools recorded a pass percentage of 72.02. Officials noted that 146 schools achieved a perfect 100 per cent success rate, while 13 schools reported no successful candidates. Ten of these underperforming institutions fall under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) programme.
District-wise, Siaha led with a pass percentage of 89.71, closely followed by Serchhip at 89.49 and Hnahthial at 89.11, reflecting strong performances across south Mizoram.
