Aizawl, May 29: Mizoram’s Land Revenue & Settlement Minister B. Lalchhanzova formally launched the Online Tax Portal Version 2.0 landtax.mizoram.gov.in at the Directorate of Land Revenue & Settlement Conference Room on Friday. Developed in collaboration with the Information and Communication Technology Department, the upgraded platform is designed to simplify tax payments and strengthen transparency in revenue administration.
Speaking at the launch, Lalchhanzova expressed satisfaction that citizens can now pay their taxes conveniently without visiting collection centers. He stressed that diligent tax payment is essential for Mizoram’s progress toward becoming a self-reliant state and noted that technological advancements are positioning Mizoram as a model for other states to emulate.
ICT Informatics Officer C. Lalrinfela presented the technical report, explaining that the new system is based on an Annual Proforma that calculates exact yearly tax dues. The portal integrates SMS reminders for payments and penalty notices for defaulters, while enabling transactions through Bharat Bill Payment System services such as GPay, PhonePe, BHIM, Amazon Pay, and others. Citizens can use their Family ID or Ration Card Number to pay Land Tax and Zoramchhiah, with a search option available for those who do not know their Family ID. Except for Lawngtlai and Siaha districts, all other districts have been onboarded.
The portal also allows citizens to update or link records like ration card numbers and phone numbers online, eliminating the need for office visits. For departmental staff, new features include clearer reporting tools, revenue statistics, daily collection tracking, and automatic blocking of expired Periodic Patta and House Passes. The system also logs every modification made to master records, ensuring accountability.
The launch program was chaired by LR&S Secretary Vanlalmawia and attended by ICT Chief Informatics Officer James Lalnunmawia along with other officials. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from LR&S Director R. Lalthazuala.
