Aizawl, March 18: The State Election Commission, Mizoram, has released the schedule for the General Election to the Aizawl Municipal Corporation, 2026. The announcement was made under the powers conferred by Section 350 of the Mizoram Municipalities Act, 2007, read with Rule 31 and Rule 50 of the Mizoram Municipalities (Election of Councillors) Rules, 2007.
Key dates for the election process are as follows:
Announcement of Election: March 18, 2026 (Wednesday)
Last Date for Filing Nominations: March 25, 2026 (Wednesday) up to 3:00 PM
Scrutiny of Nominations & Allotment of Symbols: March 27, 2026 (Friday) from 11:00 AM onwards
Last Date for Withdrawal of Candidature: March 30, 2026 (Monday) up to 3:00 PM
Date of Poll: April 21, 2026 (Tuesday) from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Date of Re-Poll (if necessary): April 23, 2026 (Thursday) from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Counting of Votes: April 27, 2026 (Monday) from 8:00 AM onwards
Completion of Election Process: April 30, 2026 (Thursday)
The Model Code of Conduct will be in effect immediately and will remain enforced until the completion of the election process on April 30, 2026.
