Mizoram will implement full home delivery of cooking gas cylinders across all district headquarters by March 2026, with services expanded to all notified towns by September 2026, announced B Lalchhanzova, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister.

Speaking at a press conference, Lalchhanzova said home delivery currently covers five of the state’s eleven district headquarters, including Aizawl Municipal Corporation, Serchhip, Hnahthial, Mamit, and Khawzawl. The government aims to extend the service to all district headquarters by March next year and complete the rollout to notified towns by September.

In areas without home delivery, consumers must currently bring empty cylinders to designated collection points to exchange for refilled ones. The supply department, District Consumer Unions, and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) are coordinating to ensure smooth implementation.

Supply Director Saizikpuii noted that over 20 notified towns will be prioritized, especially locations with LPG distributors. IOCL has instructed distributors to clear all LPG booking backlogs by December 13 and mandated that deliveries of online bookings should not be delayed beyond two days.

The minister assured adequate gas supplies during the upcoming festive season and urged churches to use commercial gas cylinders exclusively during this period. He also highlighted government efforts under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which currently provides free gas connections to 36,031 economically disadvantaged families, with eligibility for households earning less than Rs 10,000 annually.
