Malsawmzuala Ralte, Chairman, Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC), and Jonathan Lalremruata, OSD to the Chief Minister, called on Takashi Ariyoshi, Minister & Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan, at his office today.
During the interaction, the MYC Chairman apprised Ariyoshi of the growing number of Mizo youth presently employed in Japan, as well as those preparing to take up employment opportunities there. He further highlighted the large number of Mizo youth pursuing Japanese language studies.
Malsawmzuala conveyed the difficulties faced by candidates who are currently required to travel to New Delhi to appear for Japanese language examinations and subsequently to apply for visas. He therefore requested that arrangements be made for both the language examinations and visa applications to be facilitated through the Consulate of Japan in Kolkata.
He also drew attention to the challenges encountered by youths who, despite having passed the Japanese language examination and completed the necessary documentation, face delays in the visa process. He informed that formal representations in this regard have been submitted on previous occasions. Additionally, he urged that arrangements be made for conducting Japanese language examinations in Aizawl to benefit learners within the state.
In response, Ariyoshi assured that the representations made would receive due consideration.
