Aizawl, May 23: Jeffrey Hmingchhullo, a jawan from Mizoram serving in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), has been honoured with the Shaurya Chakra, India’s third-highest peacetime gallantry award, for his courageous and selfless service.
He is among 33 personnel awarded the Shaurya Chakra this year, including seven posthumously. The awards were presented by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.
President Murmu also conferred six Kirti Chakras—India’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award—including four posthumously, to members of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma congratulated Jeffrey Hmingchhullo, stating that his bravery brings pride to the Zo community and inspires others to serve the nation with dedication.
The Shaurya Chakra recognises acts of gallantry during peacetime, highlighting the commitment and valor of security forces personnel like Jeffrey Hmingchhullo.
