A delegation from the Manipur Olympic Association (MOA), led by its President Sunil Elangbam, called on Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, today. The team included three senior members of the association.
During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Governor on the association’s ongoing activities, recent achievements, and upcoming plans aimed at strengthening Manipur’s sporting ecosystem. They discussed strategies to increase grassroots participation, upgrade sports infrastructure, and provide better training opportunities for promising young athletes.
President Sunil Elangbam highlighted the MOA’s initiatives to groom budding talents across various disciplines and reiterated the association’s commitment to maintaining Manipur’s status as one of the country’s leading sporting states. He also detailed plans for collaboration with government and private stakeholders to improve athlete development, sports education, coaching, and welfare programmes.
Governor Bhalla praised the association’s efforts and lauded Manipur’s significant contribution to India’s sporting success. He urged the MOA to continue working closely with the government to create more opportunities for young sportspersons and assured full support for initiatives aimed at raising the standards of sports in the state.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both sides expressing optimism about enhanced cooperation for the growth and promotion of sports in Manipur.
