Mobile Shop Owner Injured in Knife Attack, Raises Security Concerns in Agartala

Agartala, October 16, 2024: Agartala, known for its bustling streets, was shaken on Tuesday evening when a mobile shop owner, Shankar Saha, was seriously injured in a knife attack. The incident occurred in the busy Melarmath area, sparking widespread concern about the city’s security.

According to reports, Saha, the owner of a local mobile phone shop, was attacked by an unidentified young man. Eyewitnesses say the attacker entered the shop and began verbally abusing Saha, who was seated at the time. As soon as Saha stood up, the youth stepped outside, prompting the shop owner to follow him. Suddenly, the attacker pulled out a knife and viciously assaulted Saha, striking him on the head and stomach.

Saha collapsed in a pool of blood, shocking bystanders who immediately intervened. The assailant, attempting to flee, was apprehended and beaten by the agitated crowd before police arrived. Both Saha and the attacker were rushed to the hospital by officers from the West Agartala police station.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the police have launched a thorough investigation to uncover the reasons behind the brutal assault. Meanwhile, the incident has left residents of Melarmath and the surrounding areas deeply disturbed. “Where is the security in Agartala? Are our lives safe even for a moment?” questioned a local, reflecting the growing fear among the public.

The police have yet to release details about the identity of the attacker or his motives. As investigations continue, the people of Agartala anxiously await answers to what appears to be a violent and unprovoked act.
