Agartala, May 15, 2025: Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the Sumitra Woodcraft Factory in Uttar Pradesh is manufacturing high-quality furniture using mango wood and exporting it entirely to the United States.

During his visit to the factory, West Tripura MP and former Chief Minister Shri Biplab Kumar Deb emphasized the importance of replicating such industrial success in Tripura by utilizing the state’s abundant natural resources like rubber wood and bamboo.

“Tripura has immense potential in rubber and bamboo production. If we can harness this strength and establish similar industries in the state, we can significantly boost the local economy and create jobs,” said Deb. “There is a growing global demand for sustainable and eco-friendly products, and Tripura is well-positioned to meet that demand.”

He also expressed a strong desire to bring such initiatives to Tripura soon. “Setting up industries based on rubber and bamboo will not only enhance income for local communities but also increase the state’s presence in international markets,” he added.

The visit highlighted the importance of industrial expansion in the Northeast and aligned with the broader national goal of promoting local manufacturing and exports.
