Agartala, July 23, 2025: Tripura’s former Chief Minister and incumbent Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday held a detailed meeting with Union Minister of Road, Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari to review ongoing infrastructure projects in Tripura and chart out future action plans.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Deb said, “I had a fruitful discussion with Gadkari Ji regarding various ongoing projects in Tripura. We also deliberated on the next steps required to accelerate development, particularly in road and bridge infrastructure.”

He highlighted plans to construct sustainable RCC roads capable of withstanding the region’s heavy monsoon rains. “We are planning to build long-lasting RCC roads to suit the local climatic conditions. A team of high-level officials will soon be sent to conduct quality checks, identify existing defects, and take strict corrective actions where necessary,” Deb added.

Addressing concerns over drainage, the MP informed that a drainage system along Shantirbazar on National Highway-8 has been included in the upcoming Annual Plan, ensuring better road sustainability and safety.

Deb also reviewed the progress of key bridge projects. “The construction of RCC bridges over the Gomati and Muhuri rivers, and the Agartala-Sabroom approach road, were discussed in detail. I have requested the Ministry to ensure that these are completed by November 2025,” he said.

Additionally, the status and quality of 11 ongoing road works across the state were evaluated during the meeting.

“This coordination between the Centre and the state is crucial for ensuring timely and quality execution of infrastructure projects in Tripura,” Deb concluded.
