Agartala, July 26: Tripura’s former Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday said he held discussions with Union Ministers on multiple issues concerning the state’s development, particularly infrastructure and housing.

Speaking to reporters after arriving at Agartala’s Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Deb said, “Due to heavy rains, many parts of Tripura may become impassable in the coming days. That’s why I discussed in detail the need for all-season roads with Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.”

Deb highlighted specific infrastructure bottlenecks and urged for faster project execution. “The RCC bridges over the Gomti and Muhuri rivers must be completed soon. I have also requested that the Agartala-Sabroom approach road be completed by November this year,” he stated.

To ensure quality and accountability, Deb recommended closer oversight of ongoing works. “I have asked for a high-level monitoring team to be formed to assess the projects where quality is being questioned,” he said.

The former Chief Minister also met Union Minister for Housing, Urban Affairs, and Power, Manohar Lal Khattar. “I urged him to speed up the completion of the Lighthouse Project, which is vital for providing affordable housing in the state,” Deb added.

The meetings are seen as part of Deb’s continued efforts to channel central support for key infrastructure and housing projects in Tripura.
