Nagaland: 25-Year-Old Wangtun Wanmei Becomes Youngest Traditional Chief Of Longlam Village

In a landmark traditional ceremony, 25-year-old Wangtun Wanmei was crowned as the new Angh (traditional chief) of Longlam village in Mon district, making him the youngest person to assume the role in the village’s history and among the youngest leaders of the Konyak Naga community.

The coronation featured traditional rituals and drew participation from villagers and tribal leaders. Anghs from Wangla, Hongphoi, Lapa, and Oting villages attended the event, extending their support and blessings to the newly appointed leader.

Peiwang Konyak, addressing the gathering, emphasized the role of youth in preserving customary leadership structures. Pastor Phuhlem of Longlam Baptist Church offered a special blessing for the new Angh.

The ceremony concluded with a grand community feast, reflecting the unity and cultural heritage of the Konyak people.
