Kohima, July 28: Residents of Airfield Colony in Wokha have appealed to the government for immediate intervention to repair a long-neglected stretch of the Wokha–Bokajan road, which has become severely waterlogged and nearly impassable during the monsoon season.
The affected road, frequently used by students and daily commuters, turns into a muddy and flooded path during rains. Many students are forced to wade through knee-deep water, while some are carried by their parents to avoid the worst-affected areas. Vehicles also get stuck in the slush, causing inconvenience to residents.
Colony Chairman Nzio Mozhui stated that although the colony council, along with Ward 3 Councillor W. Myingthungo Kikon, had attempted to fill the damaged portion with boulders, the lack of a proper drainage system has rendered the efforts ineffective. He added that constructing drainage downhill could flood nearby homes, while uphill construction poses a risk of landslides.
Despite repeated appeals to the concerned department, no action has been taken so far. The residents have reiterated their demand for urgent road repairs and a long-term drainage solution to ensure safe movement in the area.
