New Delhi, May 23: Nagaland Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio emphasized the vast textile potential of Nagaland and its neighboring states at the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025 in New Delhi. Dr. Rio highlighted the region’s rich diversity, comprising over 200 tribes and 192 languages, and noted that the crafts are expressions of resilience, creativity, hope, and empowerment.
Textiles represent the region’s second-largest economic activity after agriculture, with efforts underway in Nagaland to ensure quality control in yarn, color, and handloom to meet global standards. Dr. Rio stated that tribal and women’s organizations are being tapped to preserve authenticity, standardize designs, and ensure fair pricing.
