Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday inaugurated the Nagaland Police Officers’ Central Mess and the Non-Gazetted Officers’ (NGOs) Mess at the Police Complex in Chümoukedima. The facilities are part of the state government’s initiative to enhance infrastructure and improve the welfare of police personnel.

Speaking on the occasion through his official X handle, the Chief Minister said the new buildings symbolize the government’s commitment to the welfare, dignity, and professional well-being of the state police force. He highlighted that the inauguration is a step towards strengthening the police department amid rising challenges such as cybercrime, organised crime, and drug trafficking.

Rio noted that mess facilities in uniformed services are not just shared spaces but institutions that represent unity, discipline, respect, and camaraderie. He added that the new complex should continue to reflect the legacy of the Nagaland Police, which began with the establishment of the 1st NAP Battalion in 1964.

Acknowledging the difficulties faced by police personnel and their families, particularly in housing and working conditions, the Chief Minister assured that their welfare remains a top priority for the state government. He said efforts would continue to review and improve support systems and welfare measures.

Rio also commended the vision and leadership of Nagaland DGP Rupin Sharma, under whose guidance the project was initiated and successfully completed. He expressed gratitude to the engineers, architects, workers, and Nagaland Police personnel who contributed to the construction.

The Chief Minister concluded by urging police personnel to continue serving with courage, honour, and dedication, while upholding the values of integrity, excellence, service, and sacrifice.
