Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu met Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to discuss measures to strengthen the state’s aviation connectivity and develop its airport infrastructure.
In a post on X, Minister Naidu said the meeting focused on addressing topographical and logistical challenges in expanding Nagaland’s air network. He highlighted the state’s potential for tourism and growth in air cargo services.
“Had a productive meeting with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on strengthening aviation connectivity in the state. We explored solutions to the topographical and logistical challenges in advancing Nagaland’s airport infrastructure,” Naidu stated.
The minister emphasized that better direct flight links to major Indian cities would benefit tourism and regional development. He also noted the need to strengthen air cargo services to support the export of local perishable products, including fruits and fishery goods.
Meanwhile, India’s aviation and air cargo sectors showcased their growth and global ambitions at the 11th PHDCCI Global Aviation & Air Cargo Conclave held at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre. Themed “Gateway to the Skies: Elevating India’s Aviation, Air Cargo & MRO Ecosystem for Global Leadership,” the event brought together Union ministers, diplomats, technology providers, and industry leaders.
At the conclave, Minister Naidu outlined initiatives driving the sector forward, including the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, National Logistics Policy 2022, and the I-CLASS cargo enhancement programme targeting 79 airports by 2030. He also highlighted the “One Airport One Product” scheme to promote regional exports of high-value and perishable goods.
