Amid concerns over eviction drives in neighbouring Assam, Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton visited border areas in Wokha and Niuland districts on Thursday to review the security situation.

In Wokha’s Ralan area, Patton held a public meeting at Liphanyan village where locals expressed their concerns. He highlighted that the issue is beyond state boundaries and involves national importance. Following this, one company of the Indian Reserve Battalion was deployed to the Ralan area with immediate effect.

Patton added that eviction activities within the Disputed Area Belt will be conducted jointly by the Assam and Nagaland governments.

In Niuland district, he chaired a coordination meeting with district officials, Dimapur’s Police Commissioner, department heads, Town Council members, Gaon Buras, local leaders, and MLA Achumbemo Kikon to discuss border security measures.
