The District Development Co-ordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting for Zunheboto District was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and Chairperson of DISHA, S. Supongmeren Jamir.
In his address, the MP emphasized the need for officials to work together as one family in close coordination with the District Administration. He highlighted that the Government of India has launched several welfare schemes and urged Heads of Offices in Zunheboto to ensure that these initiatives reach the grassroots and benefit all eligible citizens. He also underscored the importance of addressing challenges faced by local communities during the implementation of various projects.
The MP noted that crucial schemes could be forwarded to the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) for prioritization. He further stated that issues not resolved during the meeting could be addressed through coordination with the Deputy Commissioner, who serves as Member Secretary, along with concerned departments.
The meeting featured PowerPoint presentations by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), and Department of Social Welfare, showcasing ongoing schemes and projects. Executive Engineer, PHED, Zunheboto, Er. Ichirang Zeliang, reported that water quality in most villages is good, while E. coli contamination detected in six villages has been addressed. A Water Testing Laboratory has been installed at the PHED Office for continuous monitoring. A report on PM POSHAN was also presented by the District Education Officer (DEO).
DISHA members provided suggestions to ensure effective implementation of various schemes and projects. The MP also urged Heads of Offices and councilors to plant at least one tree during their stay in the district.
