Itanagar, Mar 17: A delegation of former legislators from Nagaland met Tesam Pongte, Speaker of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, at his office in Itanagar on Tuesday to exchange views on legislative practices and inter-state cooperation.
The delegation was led by former Nagaland Assembly Speaker Neiba Ndang. Other members included former minister V Kashiho Sangtam and ex-MLAs R Tohanba, Azheto, and Ishak Konyak. The group is currently on a study tour of Arunachal Pradesh.
During the meeting, Pongte held discussions with the delegation on legislative functioning and governance. Issues of common interest among the Northeastern states were also discussed, including matters related to regional welfare.
The delegation raised concerns regarding the welfare of former legislators, including pension provisions, security arrangements, ex-gratia benefits, and related issues.
According to an official report, the meeting involved discussions aimed at enhancing understanding and cooperation among states in the Northeast region.
