The Chairman of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) – T R Zeliang today noted that the state administration will look after follow-up measures on the Naga political issue, after National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM) takes the decision on moving to Delhi for further dialogues.
The NSCN (IM) will probably convene a meeting on the subject either on Monday or Tuesday, and the Parliamentary committee will then follow-up, if necessary.
Zeliang claimed that after viewing the “formulation paper”, NSCN-IM leaders departed the May 13 meeting in Delhi with the Centre’s interlocutor A K Mishra.
“They (NSCN-IM) stated of discussing returning back if necessary. However, they are currently not going back as per the decision taken during its May 31 assembly held in NSCN(IM) headquarters, Camp Hebron,” he said.
The Nagaland parliamentary committee in its July 16 meeting requested the Centre to call the NSCN(IM) in resolving the protracted Naga Political Issue quickly.
“The stand of the NSCN(IM) remains the same : there can be no agreement on the Naga Political Issue without a distinct flag and constitution. Therefore, we (the core committee of the Parliamentary Committee) asked Mishra to formally call them so that they can talk and, if necessary, rework the formulation paper,” he said.
Zeliang claimed that Mishra has already informed that the NSCN(IM) delegation may travel to Delhi for discussions in the absence of its general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah, who is unwell.
“We will do everything possible to see that success (solution) occurs,” – informs the Nagaland Chief Minister – Neiphiu Rio.
He emphasized that the negotiation parties were asked to make reference to the Framework Agreement with the NSCN-IM and the Agreed Position with the Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups in the parliamentary committee’s resolution of July 16.
“The Framework Agreement and the Agreed Position was signed by the negotiating parties and the word ‘competencies’ was inserted in the Framework Agreement. We have requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to call the NSCN(IM) and discuss the matter with it to sort it out with the NSCN-IM,” he said.
“This will be a final push and the dynamics of Naga Political talks will be different now because Delhi will have to take it seriously,” he said.
